"Bhai" meaning brother and "Dooj" meaning the second day after the new moon

The second lunar day of the Shukla Paksha (bright fortnight) of Kartika

Hindu mythology states that Lord Krishna visited his sister Subhadra after defeating the evil demon Narakasura

She greeted him warmly with flowers,sweets and gave Krishna a loving tilaka on his forehead.
